Favorites List – December 2013

Here are some of my favorite foods to eat, things to do and books/articles to read this month!

To eat:

One of my favorite things to eat is Sweet Potatoes in every which way possible. Baked, boiled, roasted, mashed, as hash browns, chips, fries, soup and pie.  Here are two of my favorite recipes.  Oven Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Onions from MyRecipes.com and Spicy Sweet Potato Soup from Allrecipes.com

My daughters recently gave me a waffle iron for my birthday and I have been putting it to good use.  Weekends have been even more special because of homemade waffles.  Love this “Whole Wheat Waffles” recipe from 100 Days of Real Food.

To do:

I love music, all kinds of music. One of my favorite songs to listen to is Adele’s “One and Only” over and over again.  In the car, while I’m cooking and when I’m blogging.

Hill walking with my Chocolate Lab Coco and one of my BFF’s and his two Chocolate Lab’s is a trek I look forward to twice a week.  We average 5 miles each hike, but sometimes we go for a 7-miler, woo-hoo!

To read:

What To Eat” by Marion Nestle is by far one of the best guidebooks on food I have ever read. She tells you everything you need to know about food so that you can make informed food choices.

I am always preaching about eating real food, good food so I really enjoying reading through the posts at “100 Days of Real Food”  a blog dedicated to cutting out processed food while attempting to consume strictly real food.
