My 8-year-old daughter and I just had a spontaneous Kids Cook Monday! We made spaghetti with lemon zest, Italian parsley and garlic (all from our garden) and homemade turkey meatballs with organic free-range ground turkey. We also made, our new favorite beverage, watermelon shakes with mint! She was so happy cooking with me and so proud of the outcome, which was delicious by the way!

March is National Nutrition Month! In honor of this, I went to my kids’ school this morning and put up a colorful and informational bulletin board about the importance of making healthy food choices and being physically active. See photos below.
“Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right” is the theme for National Nutrition Month® 2014. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reports that taste is the main reason why we purchased the food we do. This is something I have always said, if you don’t like the taste of a certain food more than likely you will not eat that food, no matter the potential health benefits.
Therefore, preparing good tasting food that is healthy too is your goal. It can be done!
